Mackenzie Michalski dies in fatal Budapest murder

Fatal Budapest murder death of Mackenzie Michalski – Obituary

Mackenzie Michalski, 31, of Portland, Oregon, was tragically murdered while vacationing in Budapest, Hungary. She was reported missing on November 5, after being last seen at a nightclub. Authorities later identified the man she was seen with, and after an investigation, he was detained on November 7. The suspect, an Irish national, confessed to the killing, claiming it was an accident, though details surrounding the death remain unclear. He had hidden her body in a wardrobe before disposing of it in a remote area near Lake Balaton.

Michalski, a neurosurgery nurse practitioner at Providence St. Vincent in Portland, was known for her kindness and dedication to her work. Her family had launched an effort to find her, but tragically, while en route to Hungary, they learned of her death. A GoFundMe page has raised over $40,000 to cover funeral and travel costs. Her father described Budapest as her “happy place,” and a vigil was held in her honor.
