Andre Knox, a 28-year-old resident of Murfreesboro, lost his life on November 7 in a tragic wrong-way DUI accident on South Church Street. According to Murfreesboro Police, Knox’s vehicle was struck head-on by a 2004 Jeep Wrangler driven by 23-year-old Lora Allison Tenpenny, who was subsequently charged with vehicular homicide, DUI, and felony reckless endangerment.
The crash occurred around 7:24 p.m. when Tenpenny, allegedly under the influence, drove in the wrong direction, leading to a fatal collision. After the impact, Tenpenny’s Jeep overturned, injuring both her and a 22-year-old passenger. Knox was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts from off-duty emergency personnel, including a Williamson County deputy and Murfreesboro Fire Rescue’s Captain Karl Daigle, who tried to revive him before additional responders arrived.
Tenpenny was released on bond from the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court on November 19.
