Fatal Ector County pedestrian crash death of Joel Tijerina Jr. – Obituary
A tragic incident occurred early Monday morning when a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian claimed the life of 51-year-old Joel Tijerina Jr. of Odessa. According to a crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident took place at approximately 1:16 a.m. on November 4th, when 54-year-old Lori Lee Carbery, also from Odessa, was driving west on West University in the inside lane. As Carbery approached the intersection, Tijerina, who was walking south across the westbound lanes, reportedly did not yield the right of way and was struck by the vehicle.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene, but Tijerina was pronounced dead by Odessa EMS. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, with no additional details being released at this time. It remains unclear if Tijerina’s next of kin have been notified.
