A woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting in Hawthorne that occurred on Sunday morning. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner confirmed that the victim was 54-year-old Kmore Justine Brownstone, a resident of Hawthorne.
The shooting took place at approximately 11 a.m. near Doty Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard. Officers arriving at the scene found Brownstone suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body, and she was pronounced dead at the location.
According to witnesses, the suspect dropped the weapon and walked away from the scene. Police apprehended a 49-year-old man shortly afterward and arrested him on suspicion of murder. The identity of the suspect has not been released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
