On Friday, November 8, 2024, 45-year-old Meuy Johnson from Rancho Cordova tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run accident near the intersection of Borderlands Drive and Douglas Road. The crash occurred around 9:15 p.m., and Johnson, who was driving one of the involved vehicles, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Three other individuals, including two children, were injured and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, 33-year-old Owen Cruz, fled the scene but was arrested the next morning. Cruz faces multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence, leading to injury and death.
