Fatal crash north of Aurora claims the lives of Nathan Omel and Cynthia Omel – Obituary
On Monday, November 11, a tragic crash on Highway 14, three miles north of Aurora, claimed the lives of two Grand Island residents, Nathan Omel, 32, and his mother, Cynthia Omel, 66. The crash occurred when the brakes on a southbound 2022 Kenworth semi-truck were activated, causing the vehicle to cross the centerline and collide with the northbound 2019 Dodge pickup driven by Nathan Omel. Both Nathan and Cynthia were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third passenger, Marion Omel, 95, was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island and is currently hospitalized. The semi-truck’s driver, 34-year-old Terrance Callahan of Kearney, was uninjured. Both vehicles had seatbelts in use. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
