A construction worker, 61-year-old Anthony Davis from Salem, was tragically killed after being struck by a MAX Blue Line train in Portland on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. on East Burnside Street near SE 141st Avenue.
According to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Davis, who was working on a nearby project, walked onto the train tracks. The train operator reportedly sounded the horn and engaged the emergency brakes, but the train was unable to stop in time to prevent the collision. Davis sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not yet determined why Davis was on the tracks, as he did not use the designated pedestrian crossing. Further details about the accident are pending.
