Eytan Genoune dies in fatal Key Largo boat crash

Eytan Genoune dies in fatal Key Largo boat crash

Fatal Key Largo boat crash death of Eytan Genoune – Obituary

Authorities are investigating a tragic boat accident that claimed the life of 21-year-old Eytan Genoune and left two others injured near Key Largo over the weekend.

According to a report from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Genoune, from Boynton Beach, was aboard the vessel with Thomas Frey, 28, and Collin Navarro, 35, when the boat made a sudden sharp turn, ejecting all three into the waters of Card Sound.

While Frey, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and Navarro, from Woburn, Massachusetts, were transported to the hospital, Genoune succumbed to his injuries. The crash occurred as the boat was heading south, and the abrupt maneuver caused the T-top to detach, resulting in the ejections.

Friends traveling ahead of the trio noticed something amiss and returned to find the empty boat and two of the men in the water. Emergency responders, including the FWC, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard, Biscayne National Park Service, and Ocean Reef Public Safety, launched a search for Genoune. His body was later recovered by Ocean Reef Public Safety.

Authorities have not made any arrests, and it is unclear if alcohol played a role in the incident. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
