Fatal Wichita shooting death of Audreanna Hidalgo – Obituary
A 26-year-old Wichita woman, Audreanna Hidalgo, was fatally shot early Thursday morning at an apartment complex near Harry and Rock Road. Officers responding to the scene just before 2 a.m. found Hidalgo with a gunshot wound, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have identified the suspect as 38-year-old Dennis Leroy Alcox, who was arrested later that day in Junction City.
Alcox has been booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of first-degree murder, criminal possession of a firearm, and contempt of court. Lt. Aaron Moses of the Wichita Police Department described the shooting as a case of “intimate partner violence.” Alcox, who is from Junction City, was already under pre-trial supervision for an aggravated battery charge and has a history of prior convictions, including multiple charges of domestic battery, aggravated assault, and firearm offenses across Sedgwick and Geary counties.
