Fatal Chantilly truck accident death of Hugo Diaz Nolasco – Obituary
Hugo Diaz Nolasco, a 3-year-old boy, was tragically killed in a truck accident on Saturday, November 16, in the Meadows of Chantilly mobile home community in Fairfax County. The young child had been riding a tricycle in a private driveway when he entered the roadway and was struck by a 2012 Ford F-450 traveling at a low speed on Trans World Avenue.
Fairfax County police responded to the scene at approximately 3:48 p.m., where Hugo was pronounced dead. The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Preliminary investigations by the Crash Reconstruction Unit found no evidence of speeding or alcohol involvement, though the family has expressed concerns about the driver’s speed.
The Diaz Nolasco family had recently moved to Virginia from Honduras in search of better opportunities. The local community has rallied around them, creating a memorial of candles, flowers, and teddy bears at the accident site and holding a service in Hugo’s honor.
A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $5,000 toward a $20,000 goal to assist the family with funeral expenses. The Fairfax County Police Department’s Chaplain Unit and Victim Services Division are offering ongoing support to the grieving family.
