Fatal Jackson, Mississippi shooting death of Lamar Washington – Obituary
A man, identified as 19-year-old Lamar Washington, tragically passed away Sunday afternoon after being shot multiple times at an apartment complex in Jackson. The shooting took place around 1:30 p.m. at the Trails at Northpointe Apartments, located in the 600 block of Northpointe Parkway. According to Jackson Police Public Information Officer Tommie Brown, Washington was found dead on the ground in the parking lot next to the passenger side of a silver Mitsubishi Outlander. He had been leaving his mother’s home to wash her car when the shooting occurred.
At this time, no suspects have been named, and the investigation continues. Washington’s death brings the number of homicides in Jackson this year to 101, with nearly six weeks remaining in 2024. At this point last year, there had been at least 107 murders. Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to contact the Jackson Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
