Fatal Castro County car crash death of Celso Garcia-Chingo – Obituary

Celso Garcia-Chingo, 41, of Hart, Texas, passed away from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision in Castro County. The accident occurred on the evening of November 13 at the intersection of FM 145 and FM 168.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that a 2013 Acura ILX, traveling east on FM 145, failed to yield to southbound traffic on FM 168. The vehicle entered the intersection and was struck on its driver’s side by a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. Traffic on FM 168 does not stop at the intersection.

Garcia-Chingo, a passenger in the Acura, was transported to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead on November 15.

The Acura’s 16-year-old driver and two other passengers, Raul Quino-Franco, 24, and Joaquin Rodriguez-Sima, 27, also from Hart, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at University Medical Center in Lubbock and later released. The driver of the Silverado, an Amarillo resident, was similarly treated and released from the same facility.

The road conditions at the time of the accident were clear and dry, with a posted speed limit of 75 mph. The DPS is continuing its investigation into the crash.
