Fatal Redding I-5 offramp death of Isaac James Palacio – Obituary

Isaac James Palacio, a 24-year-old resident of Redding, tragically lost his life early Sunday morning after being struck by two vehicles while running across the Interstate 5 northbound offramp at Cypress Avenue. The Shasta County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity and notified his family.

The incident occurred around 5:35 a.m. when Palacio ran into the path of a 2014 Ford Fiesta driven by a 50-year-old woman from Anderson, according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle hit Palacio with its front left side and windshield, inflicting fatal injuries. A second vehicle, a 2012 Ford driven by a 38-year-old man from Texas, struck Palacio while he was lying on the road following the initial collision.

Authorities reported that neither driver was arrested, and the case remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and the Shasta County Coroner’s Office. A postmortem examination has been scheduled as part of the ongoing inquiry.
