Jeriline Brady-McGinnis, 60, was tragically killed by her own pit bull in a violent attack on Monday evening in Roxbury, Massachusetts. The incident occurred outside her home on Dennison Street around 4:30 p.m., when the dog, named Buddha, mauled Brady-McGinnis. As her husband attempted to intervene, he was also attacked. Two Boston police officers, who responded to the scene, were injured while trying to help.

Brady-McGinnis was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries during surgery. Her husband and the officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The dog was shot by police, and its condition remains unclear.

Brady-McGinnis’ family remembered her as a devoted and loving mother with a “heart of gold.” Her sons described her as the “heart and soul” of their family. Her long-time friend and landlord, Jean McGuire, expressed devastation over the loss, calling Brady-McGinnis “a sister” and noting her deep love for animals.

Neighbors expressed concerns about the safety of the dogs at the home, saying the dogs often barked loudly and posed a potential threat. The Boston Police homicide unit is now investigating the attack, given the severity of the injuries.
