Fatal South Los Angeles hit-and-run death of Oscar Guardado – Obituary

Authorities are seeking public assistance in identifying the driver responsible for a hit-and-run that killed 42-year-old Oscar Guardado on October 27. The incident occurred around 9:55 p.m. near Normandie Avenue and 23rd Street, where Guardado was biking home when a black four-door sedan struck him, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver fled the scene without providing aid, and Guardado was pronounced dead by the Los Angeles Fire Department upon their arrival. Despite efforts by detectives, including canvassing the area and reviewing available footage, no additional leads or video evidence have surfaced. However, police believe there were additional witnesses to the crash.

Investigators urge anyone with information to contact Sergeant Garbiel Nily of the South Traffic Division at (323) 421-2500. For assistance outside business hours, the South Traffic Division Watch Commander can be reached at (323) 421-2577. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through LA Crime Stoppers.

To encourage community involvement, the city is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the driver responsible for Guardado’s death.
