Fatal Jacksonville shooting death of Garry Charles Bartlett Sr. – Obituary
A Jacksonville man, 69-year-old Garry Charles Bartlett Sr., was tragically killed inside his home on Fawn Lake Drive South on November 20, 2024. Authorities have identified his son, 27-year-old Garry Charles Bartlett Jr., as the suspect in the shooting.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting around 8 a.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers discovered Bartlett Sr. with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Investigators stated that Bartlett Jr., who was present at the residence, was taken into custody for questioning. Although the exact motive remains unclear, police have confirmed that the two individuals were known to each other.
Detectives are treating the case as an isolated incident, posing no further threat to the community. The Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to assist with the investigation. Bartlett Jr. is expected to face charges of second-degree murder and will appear in court for the first time on Thursday morning.
