A fatal crash occurred on November 20, 2024, when a Hyundai Elantra collided with a UPS tractor-trailer on Interstate 84 in Willington, Connecticut. The incident took place around 3:15 p.m. on the eastbound side near Exit 71. According to state police, the Elantra was traveling behind the truck when it attempted to merge into the center lane but struck the truck’s rear bumper, causing it to spin out and come to a stop.
Gennese Alicea, a 39-year-old passenger from Southbridge, Massachusetts, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The driver of the Hyundai, a 33-year-old man from Holland, Massachusetts, and the driver of the truck, a 63-year-old man from Worcester, Massachusetts, were not seriously injured. The crash remains under investigation, and state police are asking witnesses to come forward.
