Fatal Cherry, Illinois homicide death of Jaylyon Anthony Rucker – Obituary
The Bureau County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of a young man found near an old mine outside Cherry, Illinois. Jaylyon Anthony Rucker, 20, of the Champaign area, was discovered on June 8, 2024, and his death is now being investigated as a homicide.
Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding his death. The remains were found near a decommissioned mine, located about 75 miles east of the Quad Cities. A Crime Stoppers reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest. The site of the discovery holds historical significance as it was the location of a deadly fire in 1909, which claimed the lives of 259 individuals.
