Fatal Cameron County car crash death of Oralia Garza – Obituary
A fatal crash occurred in Cameron County on November 15, 2024, when a silver Chevrolet Tahoe collided with a black Hyundai Kona on FM 509, south of FM 800 in Harlingen. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident took place around 1:27 p.m. The driver of the Chevrolet, traveling south, attempted to pass a semi-truck in a no-passing zone and lost control. The vehicle struck the rear left side of the truck and veered into the northbound lane, where it collided with the Hyundai.
The crash resulted in life-threatening injuries for the 77-year-old driver of the Hyundai, Oralia Garza, who was from San Benito. She was rushed to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen but later died. The driver and passenger of the Hyundai, as well as the driver of the Chevrolet, were all transported to the hospital with critical injuries. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
