The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the woman who died after being struck by a vehicle in Fresno on Tuesday night. The victim, 41-year-old Rachel Vanderpool, was involved in a pedestrian accident at the intersection of Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Third Street around 6:10 p.m. Police reported that Vanderpool stepped off the center median into the path of oncoming traffic. The vehicle could not stop in time and hit her. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
