Fatal Eastern Arkansas accidents claim the lives of Reggie Smith and William Burgess Jr. – Obituaries

Reggie Smith, 55, of Paragould, and William Burgess Jr., 49, of Trumann, tragically lost their lives in separate vehicle accidents in Eastern Arkansas this week.

On November 14, around 6 p.m., Reggie Smith was walking on Greene County Road 808 when he was struck from behind by a car. The driver told authorities they did not see Smith on the roadway. Smith sustained severe injuries and was transported to a Memphis hospital, where he later passed away.

The following morning, at approximately 11:30 a.m., William Burgess Jr. was involved in a rollover crash on Arkansas Highway 14, west of Waldenburg. Burgess was driving a 2000 Freightliner when he failed to navigate a curve, causing the truck to leave the road, overturn, and spill its cargo across the highway. Burgess was airlifted to a Memphis hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

The Arkansas State Police are continuing investigations into both incidents.
