A tragic shooting in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood early Sunday morning claimed the life of 16-year-old Jesus M. Sanchez and injured another teen.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of South Avers Avenue. According to police, the victims were standing on the sidewalk when gunfire erupted.
Jesus M. Sanchez sustained a critical gunshot wound to the abdomen and was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital by Chicago Fire Department crews, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The other victim, a 15-year-old boy, was transported to Stroger Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his back.
Authorities confirmed no arrests have been made as of Sunday, and the investigation remains ongoing.
