On Monday, November 25, 2024, Michael Wilmot, a 50-year-old Uber driver, was fatally shot during a suspected road rage incident on the Las Vegas Strip. The incident occurred near the Palazzo on Las Vegas Boulevard and Sands Avenue. Wilmot, who was driving with two passengers, became involved in a confrontation with another driver. After both vehicles stopped, Wilmot approached the other car and banged on the driver’s door. The other driver, a woman in her 20s, shot Wilmot in the torso. Despite being armed himself, Wilmot collapsed shortly after drawing his firearm.
The woman fled the scene but was later located and questioned by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. As of Tuesday, she had not been arrested, and the case has been forwarded to the Clark County District Attorney’s office for further review. The Clark County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Wilmot’s death was a homicide.
Uber, which has a no firearms policy for drivers, expressed support for law enforcement’s investigation.
