Fatal shooting spree in Wichita, Kansas, results in the death of Myron James Tucker – Obituary
On Friday night, November 22, 2024, Myron James Tucker, 40, was found dead in Prospect Park, located southeast of 13th and Main in Wichita. Authorities discovered his body while investigating a series of shootings in the area. Tucker had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, and his family confirmed that he was the first victim in a violent rampage carried out by 33-year-old Jose Acosta.
After killing Tucker, Acosta continued his spree, shooting at various targets, including a man on a bike, a woman in a gas station parking lot, a dog inside a home, and a vehicle’s driver. Acosta was arrested and later charged with first-degree murder, battery, aggravated battery, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and illegal possession of a firearm. He is being held on a $5 million bond at the Sedgwick County Jail.
Tucker’s family has launched a GoFundMe page to cover funeral expenses, noting the emotional and financial strain following the unexpected death of Tucker, who had also lost his younger sister just three months earlier. His sister, Carnesha, expressed the family’s gratitude for any donations, emphasizing that they typically do not ask for assistance. The family is still coping with the aftermath of these tragic losses.
