Fatal Parkersburg pedestrian death of Robert Matthew Sams – Obituary
A 58-year-old man, Robert Matthew Sams, tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday evening while trying to cross Murdoch Avenue in Parkersburg. The accident occurred at approximately 7:02 p.m. just south of the West Virginia Avenue intersection. Despite efforts from first responders, Sams was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a 2010 BMW X5, has not been identified as the investigation is still ongoing, according to Parkersburg Police Chief Matthew Board. In a separate incident earlier that day, 20-year-old Wilson Noel also died after his vehicle left the road on Gihon Road, struck a utility pole, and overturned. Both accidents are being thoroughly investigated by the authorities.
