Kevin O’Leary dies in fatal Deming bicycle crash

Fatal Deming bicycle crash death of Kevin O’Leary – Obituary

Kevin O’Leary, a 69-year-old cyclist, tragically lost his life on November 23, 2024, in a hit-and-run incident on N.M. 11 near milepost 8, according to New Mexico State Police (NMSP).

The crash was discovered around 1 p.m. when a motorist noticed debris and a bicycle off the road’s shoulder. Upon stopping to investigate, the driver found O’Leary deceased near his bicycle and called 911. The suspect vehicle had already fled the scene, and there were no direct witnesses to the accident.

Crash debris indicated that the vehicle involved was likely a red car with front-end damage. A Be On The Lookout (BOLO) alert was issued, and the Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system helped locate the suspect vehicle, a 2011 red Cadillac sedan. U.S. Border Patrol and Customs later informed NMSP that a vehicle matching the description crossed into Mexico via the Columbus Port of Entry shortly after the crash.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Noel Ronquillo Jr., was arrested in Deming on November 25, 2024, after an arrest warrant was issued. He was taken into custody without incident.
