Fatal central Fresno shooting death of Anthony Calderon – Obituary

The victim of a deadly shooting in central Fresno has been identified as 22-year-old Anthony Calderon. The incident occurred early on Thanksgiving Day, around 2 a.m., when Calderon and another man, aged 28, were shot while smoking a cigarette.

Calderon, who was shot in the torso, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the other victim is recovering in the hospital and is expected to survive.

 

The shooting involved at least three assailants who fired more than 50 rounds, shattering nearby vehicles and scattering evidence across the sidewalk. Investigators have confirmed the victims were targeted but were not gang members and did not return fire. Authorities are still searching for the shooters and looking for surveillance footage or any tips from the community to help solve the case. This marks the 28th homicide in Fresno this year.
