Fatal Westlake motorcycle crash death of Derek Hedrill Machin – Obituary
A 17-year-old motorcyclist, Derek Hedrill Machin, was killed in a tragic accident on November 30, 2024, in Westlake, Florida. The collision occurred at approximately 7:49 p.m. near the intersection of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road and Town Center Parkway North. Machin was riding a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja at a high rate of speed when a 2023 Tesla, driven by 28-year-old Isaac Arnaldo Mendoza Rojas, turned left into his path. The impact caused Machin to be ejected from the motorcycle, and he was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Mendoza Rojas sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the crash, and the next of kin has been informed.
