Fatal Milwaukee gas station shooting death of Cameron Smith – Obituary
Cameron Smith, a 35-year-old father of three, was tragically killed on November 27 during a confrontation at a gas station near West Fond du Lac and Hampton avenues in Milwaukee.
According to police, Smith was in his vehicle when a dispute with a 48-year-old man escalated into gunfire. The suspect has been taken into custody, and charges are being pursued through the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office. The motive for the altercation remains unclear as authorities continue to gather evidence.
Smith, a lifelong Milwaukee resident, was an auto mechanic who deeply loved his work. His mother, Kimberly Nathaniel, shared that cars were his passion, and he worked tirelessly to support his three daughters: 9-year-old Cameron London Smith Taylor, 7-year-old Camer’rah Smith Taylor, and 1-month-old Camyla Danielle Smith. Smith had previously studied at Milwaukee Area Technical College and co-owned an auto garage with a cousin.
His father, Kevin Nathaniel, expressed his commitment to caring for Smith’s children as they cope with the devastating loss. “I’m going to step up as a grandfather,” he said, adding that the reality of their father’s death has yet to fully sink in for the children.
Cameron’s family remembered him as a loving father and dedicated worker. His daughter Camer’rah expressed her longing, saying, “I miss my dad, and I want him back.”
Smith’s death marks the 122nd homicide reported in Milwaukee this year, reflecting a decline in violent crime compared to previous years. The family continues to grieve as they await more answers about what led to this heartbreaking incident.
