Joshua Al-Lateef Jr., a 6-year-old boy from West Chester, tragically lost his life in an accidental drowning, as confirmed by the Butler County Coroner’s Office. The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon, where family, friends, and members of the community gathered to honor his memory.
Joshua, who was nonverbal and on the autism spectrum, went missing just days before his seventh birthday, prompting a widespread search that involved hundreds of community volunteers.
In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, his family has started advocating for the establishment of a “Joshua Alert,” a system designed to help locate children with spectrum disorders more effectively in emergency situations.
Additionally, a memorial fund has been set up in Joshua’s name. Donations can be made at any U.S. Bank branch under the Joshua Al-Lateef, Jr. Memorial Fund.
The community continues to mourn the loss of a bright and beloved child while rallying to create meaningful change in his memory.
