Sheila Hercules, 64, passed away after suffering critical injuries from an assault on Sunday, December 1, in Pickering, Ontario. Initially reported as a potential vehicle collision, investigators later determined the injuries were caused by an assault.
The incident occurred near Foxwood Trail and Weyburn Square around 5 a.m., where Durham Regional Police discovered Hercules gravely injured. She was transported to a trauma center in Toronto but sadly succumbed to her injuries.
Her son, 25-year-old Aiden Hercules, was arrested at the scene and now faces a second-degree murder charge. Authorities confirmed that there are no additional suspects and no further threats to public safety.
This marks the tenth homicide in the region for 2024. Police are appealing to the public for information, including any cell phone, dashcam, or surveillance footage.
