Fatal Buncrana road crash death of Tiernan Doherty-Kelly – Obituary

Eighteen-year-old Tiernan Doherty-Kelly from Carndonagh tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle collision early Sunday morning on the R244 at Ballinlough, near Buncrana. The crash occurred shortly after 5 a.m., with Doherty-Kelly, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries.

 

A dedicated sportsman, Doherty-Kelly was a valued member of Carndonagh FC and CLG Charn Domhnaigh. In light of his passing, both clubs gathered the community together for support, and several local events, including a Christmas carols gathering and a bazaar, were postponed as a mark of respect.

 

Local businesses also expressed their condolences, remembering him for his friendly nature and infectious smile. GardaĆ­ are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or captured footage between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. to come forward to assist with the investigation.
