Wesley Decker, 82, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, November 29, following a devastating home explosion on November 17 in Weddington, North Carolina. He had been recovering in a long-term care facility after initially being hospitalized for extensive burns.

The explosion occurred on Steeplechase Circle and was determined by the Union County Fire Marshal’s Office to be caused by a fuel-air mixture, which ignited accidentally. This type of explosion occurs when fuel combines with oxygen, resulting in a powerful detonation.
