Fatal Dillon County car crash deaths of Connie Monroe and Blake Penix – Obituary
Connie Monroe, a 68-year-old resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Blake Penix, 31, from Virginia, were identified as the victims of a six-vehicle accident that occurred on Interstate 95 in Dillon County, South Carolina. According to the Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley, Monroe, who was driving a 2017 Honda CRV, died at the scene, while Penix, operating a 2010 Honda Accord, also lost his life.
The accident took place early Wednesday morning around 6:50 a.m., roughly a tenth of a mile north of Dillon. Investigators from the South Carolina Highway Patrol stated that a 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer, traveling southbound, collided with Monroe’s stopped vehicle. The impact triggered a chain-reaction crash involving four additional vehicles, including Penix’s Honda Accord, all of which were stationary in traffic at the time.
As a result of the crash, Interstate 95 was closed for several hours into Wednesday afternoon as emergency personnel worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the scene.
