Fatal west El Paso pedestrian crash death of Ray James Robert – Obituary

Police have identified 34-year-old Ray James Robert as the man who died after being struck by a vehicle in west El Paso on November 22.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on the 5300 block of North Mesa. Preliminary reports indicate that Robert was crossing the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse traveling northwest.

The driver, who was uninjured, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police stated that the pedestrian’s failure to use a crosswalk was a contributing factor in the collision.

Robert succumbed to his injuries from the crash. This marks the 63rd traffic-related fatality in El Paso for 2024, a decrease compared to 75 at this time last year.
