JB Mance dies in fatal Jackson house fire

Fatal Jackson house fire death of JB Mance – Obituary.

A well-known gospel artist, JB Mance, has tragically passed away in a house fire early Tuesday morning on Newport Street in Jackson, Mississippi. The fire broke out around 2 a.m., and Mance, who was 97 years old, was found dead at the scene.

Mance, fondly known as the Godfather of Gospel, was the leader of JB Mance and the Soul Conciliators. He was celebrated for songs like “Hold On” and “Don’t Trust a Snake,” and was an influential figure in the gospel music community. His impact also extended to Jackson, where he was seen as a pillar of the community. Family and friends remember him fondly, with local business owner Tyrone Bully recalling how Mance enjoyed weekly visits for a meal at Bully’s Soul Food Restaurant.

The house sustained significant damage, and Jackson firefighters continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
