Fatal Lewiston crash death of Allyn Duane Ellinghuysen – Obituary

Allyn Duane Ellinghuysen, a 71-year-old resident of Winona County, was identified as the victim in a fatal crash that occurred south of Lewiston on Wednesday.

The Winona County Sheriff’s Office reported that Ellinghuysen was driving southbound on County Road 25 when his vehicle crossed the center line, veered into a ditch, and struck an embankment. The collision caused the car to go airborne and overturn several times.

Chief Deputy Jeff Mueller stated that Ellinghuysen was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, he was pronounced dead.

Authorities suspect that Ellinghuysen may have experienced a medical episode prior to losing control of his vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation.
