Fatal Dillon County car crash deaths of Connie Monroe and Blake Penix – Obituary
Authorities have identified the victims of a six-car pileup that occurred on Interstate 95 in Dillon County, South Carolina, the day before Thanksgiving. Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley confirmed that 68-year-old Connie Monroe of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and 31-year-old Blake Penix of Virginia lost their lives in the tragic crash on Wednesday.
The accident happened near mile marker 193 on I-95 South. According to troopers, a 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer collided with a car that was stopped in traffic. The impact set off a chain reaction involving four other vehicles that were also stopped.
One additional person sustained injuries in the collision, but their condition has not been disclosed. The crash caused significant delays for travelers heading to their Thanksgiving destinations.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident.
