Daniel Soloman dies in fatal Portage Township pedestrian accident

Fatal Portage Township accident claims the life of Daniel Soloman, 69 – Obituary

Daniel Soloman, a 69-year-old resident of Findlay, Ohio, was fatally struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Interstate 75 on foot in Portage Township, Wood County, on the evening of December 3, 2024.

 

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 6:57 p.m. near milepost 174 in the northbound lanes. Soloman was crossing the interstate from east to west when he was hit by a 2023 Toyota Camry driven by Leroy Newson, 34, of Detroit, Michigan.

 

Emergency responders from Central Joint Fire and Rescue pronounced Soloman deceased at the scene. Newson was uninjured in the crash.

 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Crews from Mid-County Emergency Medical Services, Central Joint Fire and Rescue, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and BG Towing Company assisted at the scene.
