Jamestown police have confirmed the identity of the man fatally shot by officers early Tuesday morning following an incident outside Fred’s Den. The individual involved in the confrontation was 27-year-old Devin Fontenot from Jamestown.
According to authorities, Fontenot did not follow an officer’s command to drop his weapon, and his actions were deemed to pose a threat to the safety of both the officer and others present. The shooting led to four Jamestown police officers being placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is now handling the case as part of the ongoing inquiry into the incident.
