Elizabeth Pollard dies in fatal Pennsylvania sinkhole accident
Fatal Pennsylvania sinkhole incident death of Elizabeth Pollard, 64 – Obituary
Elizabeth Pollard, 64, was reported missing from her home in Marguerite, Pennsylvania, on December 3, 2024, after failing to return from a search for her cat. Authorities suspect she may have fallen into a sinkhole that unexpectedly formed nearby.
State troopers discovered the sinkhole, approximately 15 to 20 feet from her parked car, early on Tuesday. The hole, roughly the size of a manhole, is believed to have formed shortly before Pollard’s disappearance.
Pollard’s 5-year-old granddaughter, who had been with her during the search, was found safe in the car and reunited with her family. Despite extensive efforts, including the deployment of over 100 emergency responders and excavation teams, the fate of Pollard remains uncertain.
Authorities are cautious in their approach due to the area’s history with abandoned coal mines and subsidence issues. Rescue teams continue to monitor conditions, hopeful that Pollard may still be found alive.
