Garrett Gearhart dies in fatal Monroe County Wawa shooting

Fatal Monroe County Wawa shooting death of Garrett Gearhart, 17 – Obituary

Garrett Gearhart, a 17-year-old senior at Stroudsburg High School, was tragically killed in a shooting at a Wawa store in Stroudsburg, Monroe County, on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. when a dispute inside the store led to a shooting. Gearhart was struck in the neck by a bullet, and despite life-saving efforts, he later died at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono.

The shooter, identified as 25-year-old Andrew Joseph Quattrochi from Bushkill, turned himself into police after an arrest warrant was issued. Quattrochi faces multiple charges, including felony criminal homicide. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

Gearhart, known for his love of outdoor activities such as mountain biking and snowboarding, was close to finishing a welding certificate. He also helped at his late stepfather’s winery. Gearhart’s family is mourning the loss of a hardworking and compassionate young man with a bright future.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help cover funeral expenses, raising over $19,000 by Wednesday afternoon. Services are scheduled for Saturday, and Gearhart leaves behind his mother, siblings, and extended family.
