Jacob Baer dies in tragic Two Rivers drowning

Fatal Two Rivers drowning death of Jacob Baer – Obituary

The body of 7-year-old Jacob Baer was discovered in the West Twin River over the weekend, leading to an ongoing investigation by Two Rivers police. Jacob had been playing outside near his home when his father, after calling him to come inside, realized the boy was missing. Police suspect that Jacob, who was autistic, may have ventured onto unstable ice and fallen into the river. His father quickly called 911, and a search led to the discovery of Jacob’s belongings in the water.

Police Captain Andrew Raatz noted that there were no witnesses to the incident, and while the investigation continues, there is currently no indication of foul play. Authorities are reviewing limited surveillance footage, though it is unclear whether it will provide further insight. An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Friday.

Captain Raatz emphasized the dangers of ice, particularly on bodies of water like rivers, which are constantly moving and prone to unsafe conditions. He also stressed the importance of keeping children away from such areas and educating them about the risks, especially during the winter months.
