Fatal Tehachapi car crash death of Jesus Alberto Sotelo Ramirez and Juan Fernando Velez – Obituary
The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified two men who lost their lives in a tragic traffic collision in Tehachapi on November 20. The victims, 38-year-old Jesus Alberto Sotelo Ramirez from Lancaster and 54-year-old Juan Fernando Velez from Los Angeles, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The crash, which occurred around 7:25 a.m. on Tehachapi/Willow Springs Road, involved four vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol’s Mojave division reported that a 27-year-old man from Delano was driving a Ford F-550 southbound when it collided with a northbound GMC 3500 pickup truck driven by a 51-year-old Lancaster man. Ramirez was also driving northbound in a Honda CRV, while a 59-year-old man from Palmdale was behind the wheel of a Chevy 2500. Investigators believe the Ford F-550 struck the GMC, causing a chain reaction that led to the Honda and Chevy being involved. Both Ramirez and Velez were killed in the crash.
The CHP is continuing to investigate the incident. They are asking anyone with information to contact Officer Hubbard at 661-823-5500.
