Fatal Washington County car crash claims the lives of John McAndrew, Charles Person, and Amanda Person – Obituary
Three lives were tragically lost in a collision on IA-1 in Washington County, Iowa, on Monday morning. The victims were identified as John McAndrew, 70, Charles Person, 54, and Amanda Person, 41, all residents of Fairfield.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, McAndrew was driving a Buick in the southbound lanes when he attempted to pass a snowplow. In doing so, his vehicle entered the northbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a Nissan driven by Charles Person. Amanda Person, a front-seat passenger in the Nissan, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
A 17-year-old passenger in the Nissan survived the crash but sustained injuries and was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for treatment.
The accident remains under investigation by authorities. Further updates will be provided as new information emerges.
