Fatal Compton shooting death of Theresa Pina – Obituary

Authorities have identified Theresa Pina, a 45-year-old woman who was fatally shot in Compton following a violent encounter on Monday night. Pina was killed shortly after she and a male victim were deliberately struck by a car driven by a suspect, who later took his own life.

The incident took place around 11:10 p.m. in the 900 block of South Central Avenue. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the victims were sitting in their car when the suspect intentionally crashed into them. After the collision, the male victim ran toward a nearby gas station, while the female victim fled into a local business. The suspect followed her and shot her inside the business, causing her death at the scene.

The suspect, whose name has not been released pending family notification, was later found inside the business with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The male victim was also taken to the hospital with injuries from the crash.

Investigators are still determining the relationship between the victims and the suspect but do not believe this was a random incident. A weapon was recovered at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau or Crime Stoppers.
