Fatal Howard County standoff death of Tyree Winslow – Obituary.

Authorities have identified Tyree Winslow, a 29-year-old resident of College Park, Maryland, as the man who died following a standoff with police in Howard County on November 30.

The Maryland Office of the Attorney General reported that Howard County police were called to a residence in Laurel on Saturday, responding to a domestic disturbance around 3:10 p.m. A 911 caller had reported a man forcefully banging on the front door.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the individual, later identified as Winslow, had fired a shotgun at the door and entered the home through a window. Despite repeated commands from police, Winslow did not comply, leading to an exchange of gunfire between him and two officers at the scene.

Police then set up a barricade around the residence but were unable to establish communication with Winslow. At approximately 5:40 p.m., officers entered the home and found Winslow suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators recovered several loaded firearms and a knife near Winslow’s location. It remains unclear whether his injuries were self-inflicted or caused by police gunfire.

The officers involved in the incident were identified as Police Officer First Class Christopher Weir, a 14-year veteran, and Police Officer First Class Joseph Debronzo, a 15-year veteran. Both are assigned to the department’s Field Operations Division.

This tragic incident remains under investigation.
