Zachary Schonborn, 23, lost his life early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run collision while riding his motorcycle in Norfolk, Virginia. The accident occurred just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Little Creek Road, Chesapeake Boulevard, and Military Highway. Authorities are currently searching for the driver responsible for the crash.
Schonborn, an active-duty sailor, was a cherished member of the Broken Arrow Motorcycle Club, an organization supporting veterans, first responders, and active-duty military personnel. Known by his nickname “Plankton,” he was celebrated for his camaraderie, bright personality, and dedication to service.
Club members expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Schonborn as a kind-hearted individual who made friends instantly. “He was like a son to my wife,” shared fellow member John Wells. Schonborn recently re-enlisted for another six years and was preparing to take on new responsibilities in Northern Virginia.
His friends remembered him as someone who loved life and found joy in riding motorcycles. “He was always smiling on the bike,” said Wells.
