The Virginia State Police have identified the pilot who died in a plane crash that took place in Scott County on Wednesday. Bradley Nelms, a 45-year-old resident of Washington County, Virginia, was the sole individual killed in the incident.
The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. at a private airstrip on Davinci Drive, following a flight that had taken off from the Abingdon Highlands Airport. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by authorities. Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were informed of the incident shortly after it occurred.
