Fatal Leland pedestrian death of Cindy Uerkvitz Atherholt – Obituary
Cindy Uerkvitz Atherholt, 56, tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle while walking on U.S. 74 in Leland on Wednesday night. A driver heading westbound collided with Atherholt, who was also walking in the same direction, according to the Leland Police Department. The driver was not injured. Emergency crews responded to the crash at the U.S. 17 South exit, closing both westbound lanes of U.S. 74 temporarily for investigation. The highway reopened later that night. No charges have been filed against the driver as the investigation continues.
